About Julia Masters

IMG_1049_AI grew up devouring the mysteries of Trixie Belden, the Bobbsey twins, Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, and The Three Investigators.  When I ran out of my favorite series, I proceeded to read every teen fiction book in our small community’s library.  While most of my friends struggled to complete the library’s fifty book summer reading challenge, I accomplished this feat by the end of June every year.  I then turned to reading the World Book encyclopedia series a time or two.  I read everything I could get my hands on except the classics and Shakespeare; my love for these stories came much later in life!  I started to worry that I would run out of books to read before I turned eighteen.

Thanks to a high school friend who lent me her well-read copy of Moonstruck Madness by Laurie McBain, I discovered another genre – that of historical romance.  I’ve been hooked ever since.  With four six-feet tall stacks of books in my “To Be Read” pile along with two loaded Kindles, I’m proud to say that I will never run out of reading material.

As a kid, I started writing because I couldn’t find enough stories about the kinds of characters I wanted to read. I liked strong girl heroines who were smart AND who embarked on grand adventures – like how I envisioned my life.  Unfortunately, my adventures usually ended in disaster…but I digress…those are stories for another day.

I began entering my favorites in the Young Authors and Illustrators competition at school and won every year I participated.  I dreamed of seeing my name on a real book cover someday.

But alas, one has to have a reliable job to pay the bills, so I detoured through two bachelor degrees and a Doctor of Optometry degree and dabbled with the raising of two children, two cats, and one husband before the siren call of writing became impossible to ignore.  So now, with several manuscripts under my belt and a few under my bed, which shall never see the light of day except to provide entertainment for very, very close friends, I am pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a published author.

Join me on my grand adventure as I navigate the ever-changing world of writing and publishing. I’m off to an exciting start!

By day, I’m saving the world one eyeball at a time…By night, I’m penning romantic tales of resilient heroines and the sexy men who cherish them.
